Senior Citizens: What's the best most intruiging insightful advice anyone has ever told you in your life?

hey, im 16 and i find hearing what older people have to say really interesting and take it to heart. theyve got so much more wisdom and experience than kids my age and i have alot of older friends about 50 and 60 that i love so much and was just wondering what advice, spiritual or not that someones told you that you will never forget and just believe with all your heart is true? and who told you? thanks so much.Senior Citizens: What's the best most intruiging insightful advice anyone has ever told you in your life?
well i don't have anything intriguing to offer but my dad gave me some real good advice when i was a teen. when you work-----work, always give all you got and get the job done right, also to help out the neighbors and watch out for the elderly and be kind to them along with the mentally challenged. thanks for asking your question, not a whole lot of teens your age give a darn what us older people think, you are one of the good ones, keep up the good work!!!!Senior Citizens: What's the best most intruiging insightful advice anyone has ever told you in your life?
I learned...

That you take a piece of paper and write down everything you want in life.

If you do not know what to write down, make a list of what you do NOT want in life, and then wait a couple of days and try again. You can then focus on ideas of what you want in life, and write them down.

I then learned that you WAIT for the things on your list to become true for you. Do not chase after them, then they will never happen. WAIT for them to ';come to you.';

As you grow older in life, you will modify your list accordingly. Add things, take away things, as you grow older.

Next, equally important; EXERCISE EVERY DAY. Why? When you turn age 18-21, you are all grown up. What you see is what you get. From 18-21 on, every year you get older, you get weaker. No way around it. But with DAILY EXERCISE, the aging is greatly SLOWED. So when you are 50-60, YOU!! are stronger than every one around you.

Yes, you will be weaker, but not as weak as everyone else.
My mother

told me when I was five not to judge people by the color of their skin.

She explained that people have different skin color just as they have different hair color as they have different eye color. People are PEOPLE.

and it's true.

If i had ';avoided'; people due to their skin color, I would have missed out on a lot of great friends.
Some wise person once told me ';You can't change the past but you can learn from it, the future is not here,so don't worry about it, just give today your best effort and enjoy it.';
My dear Mother told me this:

When you fall in love, look long and hard at how that persons family act. Do Mother and Father get along because, the way they are is how you will live with this person.

And she was correct.
My dad said

Never put it in writing unless you are sure because you can take back the spoken word but cannot take back the written word.
Growing up, my mother said:

1.Let your conscience be your guide

2. Just be yourself

3. Remember the Golden Rule....Do unto others, as you'd have them do unto you.
A mentor once told me when someone compliments you just smile and say thank you.

I had a habit of deflecting the compliment by denying that I had done anything special.
My Mom said, Get a good education, be able to take care of yourself, financially and take care of your teeth,
My Mom: Never let them know what you are thinking.

Missing British citizen in Nigeria... Need advice..?

I am writing this letter out of concern for a British citizen and friend who resides in the USA. Recently, he traveled to Nigeria on work-related business - archaeological related work. He had problems from the very start. Up arriving in Nigeria, he had his luggage seized while crossing the Benin-Nigerian border. He was obligated to pay $2,500 in order to get his luggage returned (his travelers checks were inside of his luggage). It took him two weeks to raise the $2,500 fee in order to get his luggage back. All this time he had no money in his possession. He learned a valuable lesson. One should never leave travelers checks in one鈥檚 luggage.

Next, he deposited his travelers checks in to a Nigerian bank. He was told by the Nigerian bank that it would take 15 working days for the checks to clear the financial institution. All along he thought that the bank would clear his travelers checks sooner than later, so you can imagine how he felt when he was told it would take 15 days. That seemed like an eternity to him. Nearly four weeks had passed and he still had not paid the hotel fee for his stay at the hotel. By then the bill was exceeding $3,000 U.S. dollars. He was being pressured by hotel management to pay his hotel bill or else. He expressed to me that he felt his life was in danger. He conveyed to me that his travelers checks would clear the bank on 19 March 2009. My last contact with him was three days ago.

I do not know what has happened to my friend. It is unusual for him to go this long without talking to me. We always communicate on a daily basis via the internet. He may have been arrested or killed. He may have been kicked out of the hotel. Is there someone who can help him or intervene in this situation? I have no way of knowing what has happened to him. I would consider this a missing person's case.

I have written a letter to the British Embassy in Nigeria but they still haven't replied. Is that basically all that can be done for him?

ONLY SERIOUS RESPONSES PLEASE... Preferably individuals who are familiar with Nigerian laws and/or culture...Missing British citizen in Nigeria... Need advice..?
Have you EVER met this ';friend'; in person or is this an internet relationship? The reason I ask is because you have written the outline of an old Nigerian scam..... foreigner goes to Nigeria, foreigner falls into financial troubles, foreigner needs assistance to get home, etc....

The punch line comes when you're asked to wire money to assist the foreigner to get out of Nigeria. If you do wire money there will be more trouble that necessitates you to wire additional money..... and so on.

Contact the UK Embassy in Lagos, they will tell you exactly what's going on.

I would continue to push the Embassy to help you. Contact your local FBI office and see if they will help.

Nigeria is not a good place to be. I wish you all the best.
You are thinking on the right track, but I don't think a letter was the best means of contact. I would call the Embassy, and keep calling until they are doing something. Nigeria is not a safe country and there are a lot of reasons to be worried about your friend.

You could also try calling the hotel your friend was staying at.

They may know something.

  • US citizen traveling to Israel next year. Any advice?

Will be there about 12 days or so. Thanks!US citizen traveling to Israel next year. Any advice?
It really depends on which areas you will be traveling through. If you will be staying in tel aviv, Haifa and the like, it should not be any problem. However, if you are going to go through the west bank, be prepared for check points. They are not a big deal, just always have your passport available and don't get annoyed if you are asked repeatedly for it. As for Jerusalem, it has its own checkpoints, and the security in and around the city is tighter than in other areas. You will find the locals, both Israeli and Arab very friendly and hospitable. Have fun.US citizen traveling to Israel next year. Any advice?
Bring alot of cash in small US notes (10's, 5's, and 1's) for negotiating prices for things you want to buy in the Old City of Jerusalem's Market place and I would suggest pay for you food with your Visa and or Mastercard because you will get better exchange rates in any resturants you eat in while there (or purchases made in Israel stores for that matter).

    Good Luck!!!
Personally, I would always opt to fly ELAL. Look into it and see what you think. They were the first airline to have 'sky marshalls' on board and of course the Israelis are experienced at defending against terror attacks. There will be more security, of course, and maybe longer delays, but again, look into it.

As for when you're in Israel: I would suggest making time for Jerusalem. It is amazing. Go to the Kotel (Wailing Wall) and see how you feel with your hand placed against the stone. And do try to go to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial - it is a haunting experience, and explains so much about why we so desperately need Israel to be safe and secure.

If you go to the Dead Sea, then Ein Gedi kibbutz is worth visiting, it's lovely there!

Above all, enjoy! Israel is unique. If you want to read a really good novel about how the country was established, then try Exodus, by Leon Uris. Wonderful read.
Have fun, and visit as much as possible!

Don't just stay in the cities, such as Tel Aviv, or Jerusalem, but also try to get to the places of rural beauty such as ein gedi, masada, rosh hanikra, the dead sea. While not too rural, eilat is also very fun!
Eat falafel, watch the sun set, and never pay more than half of the asking price of any item in the old city.
I just came back after a three month stay.

Was treated with respect by Jews and Muslims, I stayed away from talking politics, found reality is not as portrayed by our TV. Life seems pleasant inside Israel, visiting Nazareth and Bethlehem I saw the local Arabs and they are like the Israelis of Tel-Aviv. No bullets were not flying in the air.

You must see Kapernaum on the shore of the Sea of Galelee, don't miss the Dead Sea.
Make sure you dont get jipped if paying in American dollars. Know the current value of a dollar and dont settle for anything lower. Most daily newspapers will have the newest exchange rate between dollars and shekalim (it's always changing)

I am a us citizen thinking of moving to australia, any advice?

Your first concern will be getting a work visa...very difficult to do. You must have a badly needed skill...and then it can easily take 2 to 3 years to get the visa. You may want to check into a working holiday in Australia...this is a new program between Australia and the U.S. and would allow you to visit and work there for up to a year. See 1st site below. See 2nd site to read requirements for work and residence visas.I am a us citizen thinking of moving to australia, any advice?
Yes, do it! I moved to Australia about 10 years ago from New York and it's been great. No major regrets and I've been able to accomplish things here that I never could have in the US.

You're probably drawn to Australia because of the lifestyle (safety, job security, work/life balance, outdoor activities, etc) so I won't go on and on about that. Suffice it to say, the quality of life is much better here. Sure, taxes are probably higher here but I look at it as paying for more social stability.

I believe that gaining permanent residence is difficult but the working holiday arrangements between Australia and the US (mentioned in another answer) might be a way to get your foot in the door. My wife is Australian so that made getting permanent residence relatively easy.

If you are a professional or have some skills that Australia needs, the link below gives some info on getting in on the general skilled migration program.

Now for some of the negatives. Housing is expensive here (compared to all but the most expensive cities in the US). The US$ is weak now so if you're bringing US$ with you, you won't get as much as you would have a few years ago. Cars and gasoline are also more expensive here. You'd also be pretty far from your family and friends in the US.

Can't think of anything else.I am a us citizen thinking of moving to australia, any advice?
Advice? Be yourself and come on down we'd love to have you.

If you were anything but American i'd say learn the language but you already know it. Having said that, you might still need to learn some of the Aussie slang.

    For example, i said to an American who was staying with me a while ago ';one Mud Slide will probably get you pissed'; to which she responded ';why would drinking a Mud Slide make me pissed off?';

Pissed in Aussie lingo means drunk.

There are many words like that which have different meanings but you'll learn 'em real quick.
why? I know several Aussies who are struggling to get HERE! (USA)

taxes are high, the government is restrictive (more so than ours is now) and you are quite limited in a number of ways.

They only except people using a matrix. Age, income level, education, whether or not they have a need for your skills etc.

if you want to go, good luck.

why don't you get a temp job working over there for an American company first and see how you like it?
My family just moved down. We aren't american citizens though, but we have green-cards. We're british citizens, so it might be different. u need a temporary visa, or a permenant visa, whichever. it is hared 2 get a permenant than a temporary though. wen u get here, its not that different. school yr starts in jan though, thats odd. and right now its fall, cuz the seasons r reversed. just have fun and dont pretend 2 be australian (i really pissed some people off)
    Why move??

Are you not happy with the USA?

If, you think the USA is bad wait till you come to Australia, everythings upside down literally!!!! Hence the the nickname ';the land down under';.
    the right visa

    plenty of us $

25kg of baggage so you wont be return back to us.

if you are thinking of moving here, then that's the best thing you will ever do.welcome cuz.enjoy your stay in australia.
I would if I had the money. I love it there I visited in Sydney in 2000 and I left my heart at the Sydney harbour bridge. It's so beautiful there and the people are very friendly.
Sure, do it! The best country in the world. No major gun problems and the right to a fair go. fantastic place.
stay where you are? like we need more yanks cluttering up the streets.
    Do it!
    Save some money

Advice on marrying a turkish Citizen?

hi i am british wanting to marry my turkish boyfriend please can any one give me advice on what i need and what will need to be done once i arrive in turkey thanksAdvice on marrying a turkish Citizen?
I am really bored of those people who make funny jokes about Turkey. We call our country T眉rkiye, so we don't eat it on Thanksgiving. Anyways..

Turkey has a very close culture to western Europe, especially Italy, Spain and Potugal. And is nearly same as Greece. There is this difference, most people are Muslims. People are warm, friendly and helpful. If they know you are new in Turkey, they will all try to help you in customs, traditions, etc.

Once you decide to live in Turkey, learn Turkish. It is essential because many people speaks English but a broken one. So that may cause problems.

Then, small cities are peaceful while big cities are complex. But especially hospitals are better in big cities. And get yourself prepared to traffic.

If you get bored to live in Turkey one day, take a trip to another city. Turkey is one of the most beautiful and most interesting countries over the world.

Is there any point in calling the citizens advice bureau?

i want to call about my legal rights regarding something that will cost me like 拢150, ive been on hold for AGES by the time i get thru to them- if they answer ever, i will probably be clocking up loads on my daytime phone bill, should i just forget calling them?Is there any point in calling the citizens advice bureau?
They would only refer you to another professional anyways.

You'd be better off seeing a solicitor for a free 30 minute chat. If it's a legal matter. Is there any point in calling the citizens advice bureau?
hi, i work for CAB and know first hand how frustrating it can be not being able to get through on the phone when you are desperate for advice.

the problem is mainly due to the fact that each bureau is a charity who relies heavily on funding and volunteers, and more often than not there just aren't the resources for people to man the phones or deal with messages.

my best advice at this stage would be to pop along to the bureau - you can search for the nearest and find the opening hours on the link below. if they are not open for drop0in advice they may be able to give you an appointment.

http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/ - there may also be some basic info/advice you need on the website.

there is also this advice website which is much more helpful and informative! http://www.advicenow.org.uk/

another alternative is finding your nearest law centre http://www.lawcentres.org.uk/lawcentres/

I hope this helps, and feel free to drop me an email as i may be able to give you some basic info or signpost you to the right place. Rebecca x
Contact your local Trading Standards office as they'll have fully qualified business advisers.

To find your local office details go to the Trading Standards Central website. http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/index鈥?/a>
They are always inundated with calls. Why don't you find out where the local office is and go and speak to them in person!!

Alternatively, try calling them sneakily from work (no phone bill)!!

I am US citizen wanting to live/work in Thailand. Any advice or information?

Not knowing much about your situation I wouldn't want to give much of any advice. Hoping you been here a few time before, have someone here to help with translation problems, and know the rules for obtaining a visa. I do recommend you have a banking account in the USA with on line banking, a means to transfer funds here, i.e. ATM or money transfers, and adequate funds to open a bank account here in Thailand just for emergency cash in case you have some problem with your home bank, i.e. lost ATM card. Other wise, welcome to Thailand, hope you have a great retirement here.I am US citizen wanting to live/work in Thailand. Any advice or information?
You didn't mention of what you will be doing in terms of work in Thailand. My advice will be that you learn of thai cultures and do's or don'ts. Go to 'forum' of thai-related websites like:

    http://www.bahtsold.com/forum/viewforum.鈥?/a>

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/

and you'll have some ideas of what's going on and might learn something especially from the point of views of expats communities in Thailand. Don't forget to check out the homepage of thaivisa.com. There're lots of helpful information that you may find useful to know before you even live there.I am US citizen wanting to live/work in Thailand. Any advice or information?
    Be careful.
Hi - Well, your question is way too broad, but Nowhereman above has good advice on banking.. There are sacrifices to be made in working here as you might make less than in other Asian countries. I have a friend teaching English in Korea and he likes the lifestyle here much better but will have to take a substantial pay cut.. Even in Bkk, if you look around, there are reasonable places to rent - but I will not go in to details because I do not know what/which category you fall in to - backpacker, executive?? but feel free to contact me personally if you want anything specific as to advice or info.. this forum is also pretty good if you narrow down the questions.. good luck and welcome

401K advice for UK citizen on L1 Visa in US?

Does it make sense for me to invest in a 401K in the US, given that I will probably move back to the UK in 3 to 5 years and, as I understand it, will not be able to transfer it to a UK equivalent without tax and penalties etc? My company already pays into a 401K but I'm not contributing at the moment.

Or would it make sense to keep not contributing and just stick it in a mutual fund?

I also have a UK pension with my employer (same employer) which is currently frozen and I assume I would continue on my return.401K advice for UK citizen on L1 Visa in US?
By all means, contribute to a 401K, especially if your company gives a match. Even if you move back to the UK, you can still leave your money in the 401K in the US.

Can I get some advice from a fellow US Citizen who has lived abroad in the UK?

I'm an American who is planning to relocate to the UK next year and seeking advice. Could someone with experience relocating from the US to the UK contact me directly? I have many questions Id like to ask about the process. Application costs, how long it takes, expediting the process, etc... Id be very thankful if someone could email me and discuss this process.

a good citizen is one that respects country and the rights of others. I mean good advices, not the procedures like ';first, be a US citizen, then study criminal%26amp;justice, etc, etc...';I'm a non-US citizen interested to join US police force. Have any good advice for me?
If it were me, I'd call a police department in a city that interests you, perhaps Los Angles, or San Francisco where they pride themselves on having a diverse group of officers.. I'd ask them exactly what you're asking here, what their criteria for service is, if you have to be a citizen etc. The only other thing I could suggest is for you to approach one of the security services in Iraq that is in constant need of private police, and once you'd served with them for a year or so (if you survived,) you would probably have enough contacts to get seriously considered for a police force assignment in the U.S.A.I'm a non-US citizen interested to join US police force. Go home.
Get citizenship first. Then join our US military, get some experience. Then apply at Universities with Criminal Justice majors.

I am in debt with my bank.I owe them four grand.I went to citizens advice in feb and they worked out i could ?

afford to pay 22pound a month. The bank rejected this and have now passed it on to solicitors.I have paid nothing off and am waiting to hear from their solicitors.I have offered to pay my 22pound but they wont take it.What do i do now?I am in debt with my bank.I owe them four grand.I went to citizens advice in feb and they worked out i could ?
Years ago we had the same problem. We gave them a breakdown of our in-goings and out-goings and offered them 拢20 a month they rejected it, took us to court and we ended up paying less a month than we offered as the court ruled in our favour. I always thought they had to accept any offer of payment however small so keep making the payments you can afford as it will help.I am in debt with my bank.I owe them four grand.I went to citizens advice in feb and they worked out i could ?
Their solicitor sould accept your offer of 拢22 per onth as long as this is a reasonable amount compared to your income. If you were earning a huge amount they wold expect more than that, but as you have already been to citizens advice, they should be able to advise you further and may even contact the bank on your behalf. You can also go for an administration order via a solicitior of your own, this used to cost 拢15 but was well worth it as any debt was then dealt with by your solicitor and they arrange small affordable payments on your behalf. Good luck.
There's nothing you can do, I had this problem and cab advised me to carry on paying the rejected amount anyway (this shows willing) . That way the only thing the bank can really do is take you to court, I was advised that if this happened showing that I had been paying the rejected amount would go in my favour. They may request a break down of your finances where you enter everything you get in and pay out, when they see this is all you really can afford they are likely to take it as 拢22 is better than nothing and taking you to court is an expensive proccess and pointless if they can see you have no money anyway. Good luck

Yes pay them the 拢22 per month whilst you're waiting to hear from their solicitors.

you will need to wait for the agency to call you---you can probably reach a settlement with them~

I would imagine that Mexico's membership in NAFTA would imply a certain accreditation of degrees from across the border. If this tuns out to be the case, you should be able to take a bar exam in a state of your choice and, upon passing it, practice.

us law and mexico's laws are different so not valid in usa..you could specialize in mexico helping people there or come to the states and go to law school here............
post that question for your teachers.

  • Is Citizens Advice Bureau the best place to go if I can't afford to pay household bills?

Or is there anywhere else I can get help with payments at all?Is Citizens Advice Bureau the best place to go if I can't afford to pay household bills?
Hi, I have been stressed out with financial problems. The cab have financial advisors now. They can advise but they can also help you with a budget plan and write to creditors as well as deal with other things. They are friendle and helpful as well as taking a lot of the stress of you. It even helps that someone will listen and not judge you. Hope this helps. Take careIs Citizens Advice Bureau the best place to go if I can't afford to pay household bills?
yeah they can help.. they will be able to contact companys on your behalf and tell them your having trouble and arrange payment plans. also they will let you know if your intitled to benifits even if you have a job.. hope that helps
There are low income benefits to raise you up to a government accepted standard of living. But if you cannot pay your water bill then dont, since thelate 90's the utility companies can no longer cut you off (because of human rights!). They still have to supply you if you don't pay, at least the water companies do, not sure about the others.
go to citizens advice first sort out household bills with them, they are really good.then get yourself sorted out at the job centre or even try collages for courses it all takes time but you will get there
ck with welfare it doesn't sound good but at least it a start
No, the best place to go first is your biggest sister, then your middle sister, then your Mum, if you can't get the help there, you should then write to each of your bill companies explaining your situation, I'm sure you've got plenty of people who will help you do that.

Why are some people so judgemental, I know Fairy has been looking for a job there for at least two years, she's been for interviews and there has been no joy there, she IS looking for work and doesn't want to spend the rest of her life on benefits, please, if you can't think of anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!
It's a very good place to start. Be very cautious about offers of debt reconciliation loans, cards, all the rest. Do you have an accountant or banker friend? Use him/her.

There's also credit unions, depending on where you live; they are generally charities and can be good at advising you.
Citizens Advice may be able to advise you on benefits you may be able to claim
You can't get help at all. The CAB might help you find a loan or get some of your payments lowered but they really aren't as good as some people say they are. I can't think of anywhere else you can go though. The jobcentre wouldn't help either unless you are on some kind of benefit, even then you will be VERY lucky for them to help. You could see if the CAB would give you advice on finding a job as well. They will be more useful than the jobcentre.

I know you are not entitled to any benefits or anything which makes this so stupid, you are trying and don;t have enough money to live on but because your circumstances don't fit their criteria. Well anyway, I can help you work out your finances but if I see that there is always more going out than coming in and nothing can be changed to accomodate it then you will have to go to the CAB.

I would like to know why some people assume you are ';sponging'; just because you can't pay bills. I have never owned my own playstation, computer or car and I had plenty of years without the other things. I still struggled to pay the bills. It doesn't help to insult people. It also annoys me when people think it's so easy to get a job. It might be for some people but if there is no work where you live or you don't have the right qualifications for what is available, or even if you do, there is no guarantee that you will be offered a job.
The citizens Advice will do just that, advise. They are unable to give you any more info than you could get from a reasonable amount of research on their website and others. The first thing you need to do is talk to the people you owe, they will useually be more than happy to arrange payment plans as they would rather this than no money at all. If the worst happens and you simply cannot pay then your job centre will be able to arrange pauyment on you behalf which would then be paid back to them in very small weekly amounts.
Contact you local Food Bank and they will direct you. I know there is funding available through some electric companies themselves but it's based on Need, income, and first come first sever.

The next option is to contact some of your local churches for assistance. You don't have to be a member either.

The local welfare office can also assist you.

The only way to go now is UP.....

    Good Luck!
citizens advice will help. in north east there is something called DAWN who..if you really can't afford to pay, will give you loads of help and arrange everything for you without charge. citizens advice should give you the name of a similar debt management company
The CAB can help you by putting in touch with a debt management company who will hopefully be able to help you sort out and pay your bills. Good luck.
The best place to go to is the want ads, and they can help you find a job. A second one, if need be. Earn a living like the rest of us, take care of yourself and cut back on expenses if you need to. I spent most of my adult life without such luxuries as a cell phone, a computer, a playstation, a tv, or even a car. Now that I have them, I'd sell them or do whatever it takes to be RESPONSIBLE, rather than go looking to sponge off other people.

What qualifications would i need to be a volunteer with the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) ?

CAB require no formal qualifications from their volunteers.

Has anyone else received a letter from citizens advice?

About theft of a laptop in BELFAST, with peoples personal details on it.Has anyone else received a letter from citizens advice?
My sister received one yesterday, I don't think that she is too bothered though.Has anyone else received a letter from citizens advice?
A laptop computer containing personal details of up to 60,000 people has been stolen from the Citizens Advice Bureau in Belfast.

The computer was taken from a staff member's car earlier this week.

It holds information on people who have sought advice but the bureau said the data was encrypted and it was highly unlikely that it could be accessed.

The details include bank account numbers, national insurance numbers, names, addresses and dates of birth.

Northern Ireland CAB spokesman Derek Alcorn has issued an apology and said the organisation would be writing to all the individuals concerned.

';We can say that the data on the computer is protected by three levels of security, including a high level of encryption,'; he said.

';It is highly unlikely that a criminal will be able to access the data, but people who have used Citizens Advice in the Belfast area should check for anything unusual.

    ';We believe the information, even if it were accessed, would not on its own allow access to a bank account because banks require other security information and passwords.';

He said a helpline had been established and would be staffed over the weekend from 1000 GMT until 1600 GMT.

';Information is also on our website,'; he said.
    no.
In a word no but there is so much stuff that we never get to hear about that goes missing you should not be to worried.
I heard about this some time ago but so far they don't think that the information would be of any use to fraudsters sos I wouldn't worry too much. Here is the relevant news article from the bbc website

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_irel鈥?/a>
    Not me.
Nope ...i havent heard of it!! i'll check through a few of my mates in Belfast and see if they have!! x

Went to citizen advice and they couldnt give me help!?

Husband has been offered job, we are not sure where to turn for advice about whether we will be better off, so i took a trip to citizen advice, the advisor i spoke too, said it would be far too complicated and inaccurate of him to give me a better off calaculation and my best bet was to ring the tax credit hotline. I have rang this and also done a assessment online and both are telling me too different quotes.. im even more confused.Went to citizen advice and they couldnt give me help!?
if you have looked sreiously at both qoutes then take the bottom one and work out the money coming in going out and work out if your better of from that if you get the higher qoute then happy days be very careful and dont make a wish list take all the expences and any unexpected bills that you just never no could happen and if you can seriously afford the move of job then go for it, dont forget kids school dinners, milk, rent, travel, childcare, will also need to come out of your husbands wage also so add it all up carefully good luck.Went to citizen advice and they couldnt give me help!?
what kind of advise.......email me for a question i'm the top advicer in liverpool, britain
Usually the Tax credit hotline is the best approach. If citizen advice couldnt offer you what you needed. Life and work is always a gamble especially if you have children, im sure even if your not better off the work will give you and your husband a sense of self-satisfaction.

  • Has anyone got any advice/experience on a US citizen obtaining a uk visa ?

My Son has a girlfriend from US, they have been together for 2 years now but have had to spend time in other countries to be together, ie Australia. They are now both home ( she is in US and my son is here in the UK - both very love sick and unhappy). She would like to work here and spend time with my son just like any normal couple, this is proving to be very difficult.Has anyone got any advice/experience on a US citizen obtaining a uk visa ?
We are currently in the process

    Tier 1 General Visa

Her first step would be to apply via http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/ and

    http://www.workpermit.com/uk/uk-immigrat鈥?/a>

Worldbridges website is another great up to the minute news %26amp; info.

If she has a parent or grandparent that is a member of the EU she may qualify for a Ancestry visa. This also applies to commonwealth countries to the UK.

Step one is the points system

The process has a points system, which includes education level or degree (which can be anywhere from an aupairs to electricians to Ph d's, as it also factors in jobs needed to be filled)

    Points for English speakers

    Points for age

    70- 75 points, I believe qualifies

Another requirement is you must hold a balance $8000.00USD in a Checking or Savings account for 3 consecutive months prior to application. No exceptions, they are dead serious. No stock, 401K, or cash holdings matter, unless it is held in a bank, that's the rule.

Also apply for positions w/Co's that have branches in the UK, it's worth a shot.

Since you mentioned she was love sick, some people opt for a pet.

Resist the urge %26amp; adopt or purchase when you get there, because there are a series of blood tests %26amp; drama 6 months prior to entering the UK or you must quarantine for 6 mos.

For example, we started our process mid June, so we can leave no later than mid Jan 09 .There are privately run / family owned quarantine kennels ( I found one in Chingford) but we opted to wait as it's just too much stress %26amp; $$$.

Good luck to the lovebirds :^)

Has anyone got any advice/experience on a US citizen obtaining a uk visa ?
did she file for a visa because if she did there is no reson that the us would deny it

I'm Irish citizen and want to visit North Korea. Any ideas on getting visa or advice in general?

As Charlie said, you'll only be allowed entry if you are part of an organised tour entering from China. The tour will be accompanied by a North Korean guide. A adventure company like Explore Holidays or GAP Adventures may be your first port of call. Alternatively, try a high street travel agent who are used to travellers visiting unusual travel locations like The Flight Centre or TrailFinders.

Also bear in mind that having a North Korean stamp in your passport will prevent travel to some countries. You may be best applying for a second passport to get round this issue.I'm Irish citizen and want to visit North Korea. Any ideas on getting visa or advice in general?
North Korea is a completely closed country. tThey do not allow individuals to travel there as tourists. Only organized groups may go and they must be accompanied at all times by North Korean ';Guides.'; Usuallu groups must enter through China. You may be able to get info from a travel agent.

    Working for citizen advice?

What qualifications are needed?? Is it possible to volunteer and been trained??Working for citizen advice?
I think you must not have explored this option in any depth- go look on their website, get involved- most people start out as volunteers.

To do well in this type of work you do need to be good at finding information, ( as after all most people who use the CAB service are looking for advice and information). So prove this now by getting out there and doing the research.Working for citizen advice?
Hi, I volunteered for about 18 months. When i went for my interview they asked about my qualifications but i got the impression they weren't so important. As long as you come across as level headed, intelligent etc. in the interview you should be OK. You also need to guarantee them that you are going to stick with it, and work hard. It costs them alot of money to train you, and they want to make sure it's not money wasted. Howevr, if you do get in, it's fantastic experience, and it's great to put down in your C.V. I'm now studying Pharmacy in Uni, and i'm a single mother of two children! i'm sure it's my CAB experience that helped me get in. There where 1400 applicants for 90 places...... need i say more. Go for it! Email if you need any hints or tips x
i think it is possible to volunteer and train, phone them locally and ask

Your advice would be greatly appreciated!I am an Irish citizen living outside Europe, but want to give birth in the UK, can anyone advice me?
Hi, If you are a citizen of an EU Country (Like Ireland) then you are entitled to live and work anywhere within the EU.

You will also need an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) which can be applied for from here...... http://www.ehic.ie/apply.htm

I'd imagine you'll need an Eire address for the card to be sent too though.

Once you have this card, you will be entitled to the same state health care as the EU Countries residents are entitled to.

    Hope that helps

Any job advice for a UK citizen looking to relocate to San Francisco?

I'm a 32 yr old male who has just finished a doctorate at Oxford. I do not (necessarily) wish to remain in academia. But I do not have a trade or a vocational training.Any job advice for a UK citizen looking to relocate to San Francisco?
    Try Craig's list:

    http://sfbay.craigslist.org/

Some larger corporations will black list you if they have already received your resume through a staffing/placement agency because they would prefer not to pay the fee. I would sign-up with them as a last resort.Any job advice for a UK citizen looking to relocate to San Francisco?
I just relocated here and highly recommend signing up with a staffing agency. It's their job to get you a job and you're not paying them anything. In fact they make commission so they're only paid if you get paid higher.

They work really hard to get you a job, I would look up which ones would fit your skills.

  • Need some advice on what to include in answering this question about democracy and being a citizen?

    My questions are:

Why and how does constitutional democracy in the United States depend on the active participation of its citizens?

    and also,

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a citizen of botht he United States and the state you reside in?

I already have an idea of how to answer these questions because my instructor gave me some tips, but they are vague and I want some specific examples I can pick out of (like court cases or maybe current events) that can help me answer this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!Need some advice on what to include in answering this question about democracy and being a citizen?
    ';Why and how does constitutional democracy in the United States depend on the active participation of its citizens?';

Look up the etymology of the word ';democracy.'; That'll shed light on that one.

    ';What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a citizen of botht he United States and the state you reside in?';

A disadvantage is double taxation. You pay federal income taxes as well as state ones. Or if your state doesn't have an income tax, it probably has some other type of tax. Advantages could include anything. We're free to go into other states, allowed to hunt, fish, garden and utilize other natural resources in most cases, etc.

I am a USA citizen but live and work in the Netherlands. Income tax advice please?

I spent 2008 working in both the USA and Netherlands (different jobs) and the majority of my income has come from my time abroad. What irs forms do I need to fill out to avoid double taxation? How does one file Dutch income taxes? What documents will I need? Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.I am a USA citizen but live and work in the Netherlands. Income tax advice please?
Dutch income tax I can't help you with but you must file a US income tax return then take Dutch income tax as a credit against what you owe. Since Dutch taxes are more than US taxes, you will owe the US nothing.I am a USA citizen but live and work in the Netherlands. Income tax advice please?
you should go to www.irs.gov and find out what you need there if you are doing your own taxes, if not consult a tax professional you may need one in your situation.
You must file a federal Form 1040 with the IRS and should claim the ';foreign earned income'; exclusion.

I do not know what forms are needed for the Netherlands.

Has anyone actually ever got hold of their local Citizen's Advice Bureau by phone at the specified times?

I have been trying mine for weeks - engaged permenantly - I work so I can't just 'pop down there'Has anyone actually ever got hold of their local Citizen's Advice Bureau by phone at the specified times?
The CAB are ridiculously under-funded and under staffed.

You really need to just book a day off, turn up early wait your turn. This would be a good time to put all your thoughts about your problem onto paper.Has anyone actually ever got hold of their local Citizen's Advice Bureau by phone at the specified times?
Same in the North East ,they never answer the phones...
Nope, I just turned up after weeks of calling and was seen after about 30mins of waiting.
No, I had same problem a while back, then when I did get through to someone. They let me tell them the whole story and then said they did not know how to help but there might be someone in next week who could? I gave up.
no never!!I got thru once and they then just hung up immediately before i had even spoken!!
No, and to make matters worse i have visited their offices 4 times now and twice there was a sign stating that it was closed due to staff shortages and twice stating that they had locked the doors to allow the line of waiting customers to be cleared, i looked through the widow and the waiting room was empty.
Yes, just once. When they picked up I was so stunned I could hardly speak.

Can you write them a letter explaining your predictament? Maybe they can help you via mail, or have a specific time to call them when they are free to talk to just you.

    xx
i'm quite lucky i work next door to mine, have you tried phoning another branch
guess i'm lucky, we have a great cab offices around here, plus my mates sister is a manager in one!! try ringing a different branch? (ones in the north west are great ;-) )

I am a US citizen in Brazil with my girlfriend, a Brazilian citizen, who is now pregnant. Any advice?

I am planning on returning to the US on May 19 and would like her to come with me. But what about her having a baby in the US on a tourist visa? Is this AT ALL legal? Also, what will hospitals say about this? Also, can I buy health insurance for her in the US? We have so many questions and we're fortunate to have this resource to help us. Thanks.I am a US citizen in Brazil with my girlfriend, a Brazilian citizen, who is now pregnant. Any advice?
I see a mixture of good and really inaccurate information here.

First off you child will be a US Citizen wherever born as long as you acknowlege him as yours and you have yourself lived in the US a number of years after the age of 14, I believe 5 years total residence is required at least 2 after 14 but may have that wrong.

Second yes it will be difficult to get a tourist visa if they find out the situation. IF... and you can't lie or you damage your chances to get in ever.

Third marry her there or in the US either way she can fairly promptly get a green card, but it you do it in the US she can stay under most circumstances while she waits for the paperwork. It will probably take at least 6 months if she is in Brazil.

Fourth the only way I can think of to get her insurance is to marry her, assuming you have insurance. No one will voluntarily issue an insurance policy to a pregnant woman that will cover pregnancy.

Normally your (work provided) insurance will automatically allow you to add her to your insurance and those insurance policies have to include her pregnancy and usually preexisting conditions as well.

Unfortunately they don't normally offer any but emergency services outside of the US if that. And pregnancy would not qualify. So you need to get her to the US and marry if you can.I am a US citizen in Brazil with my girlfriend, a Brazilian citizen, who is now pregnant. Any advice?
Alberto that is an awesome video. And truly there are beautiful girls from Brazil. But one thing that I don't understand is, how did a moron like you find that video??????

Why does she not apply for a tourist visa and see if she will be granted one? If she will, then you can marry her in the US right away and file her paperwork with the USCIS to sponsor her under a spousal petition.

In case she will not be granted a tourist visa, then you can marry her in Brazil file for her paperwork and wait until she gets to America. This is the second quick way.

If she is able to get in the country then you can pay for her medical expenses which will be very expensive but that it the way it goes here. It will take time before she can be under your insurance or even acquire her social security number to qualify for insurance.
She does not have a big chance to get a tourist visa, sorry. For getting a tourist visa she will have to prove that she has very strong ties with Brazil, and has no intentions to stay in the US. Unfortunately, having a US citizen boyfriend and being pregnant with US citizen baby shows opposite. Consular officer will think that she wants to evade immigration laws, trying to get a tourist visa for moving to the US, because getting a tourist visa is faster than waiting for fianc茅e or spouse visa.
Like some answerers before said.......it'll be hard for her to get a tourist visa. The fact that she is pregnant is a give-away that she intends to come and stay in the US. And if she gets it, she'll still have a tough time convincing the Border Patrol (customs) that she intends to stay in the US temporarily.

Your best bet would be to decide if you want to marry her and if you want to marry her in Brazil or in the US. If in the US, then you can apply for her to get a fianc茅e visa. And then once she comes to the US you have a 90-day persiod in which you must be married before the visa expires. Here's information about the fianc茅e visa: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/鈥?/a>

If you want to marry in Brazil, then you will petition for her to come to the US as your wife. In this case you will need to file an I-130 to petition for her. But first you need to check with the US Consular office in Brazil, because some offices refuse to accept jurisdiction.

    Here's information on that: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/m鈥?/a>
Getting a tourist visa is hard these days for most people.

The first thing you need to do is visit the US Consulate and ask how long it will take to process a fiancee visa. This visa requieres you to marry her within a certain period of time, or, she has to leave. You may also want to ask about the option of marrying her in Brazil and having her come as your wife. it may be a little faster that way. I hear processing these types of visas is taking longer these days, so good luck.
Its 100% legal for her to have a baby even if she has a tourist visa. No health insurance will cover her, reason being that she is on a tourist visa, she would need to be on residence visa or a US citizen to get health coverage.
Does she have a visa to come to US.....if not you must either marry her in Brazil or you could ask some information about a fiancee visa for her right now, if she has the visa bring her to US and tell the immigration that麓s she is just visiting ,I don麓t know how pregnant she is. Then once she is here don麓t worry about anything marry her as soon as you can and apply for her to have a green card. If she lived here before or was deported it麓s more complicated if you explain better your situation I can help maybe......

Anyway....she can have a baby here no problem and if she has no insurance you must prove that you can pay for her or include her and your baby to your plan 麓cause you麓re the sponsor and if you can麓t pay right now...you can always apply for free care....check your state.....

Good luck, have fun , enjoy your baby and

    SEJA BEM-VINDA AOS EUA!!!!!
Because you are a US citizen the baby will be too!

    Obama is a fine example.

However you will have to marry here in order for her to get Green Card
Why don't you do the honorable thing and marry her? If you didn't plan on marrying her, why would you make a baby with her?
Do the honorable thing, marry her and stay in Brazil now that you have a family there.
    sucks to be you
Sorry guy, but I will advise you on the opposite hand: make your baby to born in Brazil. It will be nice for him/her.

Brazil has no enemies and people around the World tends to prefer a Brazilian to a US citizens due to the acts of your government for decades.

Besides this, ';Uncle Sam'; will never point the finger to him saying ';I want you'; when another retard like George Bush invent a terrorism to make a new war. Keep him/her safe, in Brazil.

When your son/daughter to become an adult, he will be satisfied to have friendship and relation with Brazilian girls, considered the most sexy in the World. If a girl, a Brazilian girl, she will say ';I'm one of them';.

Brazil is a nice country, a multi cultural nation and nobody makes enemies here or around the World. We have not any racial conflicts and our culture don't permit explicit racists like you have (KKK) in USA.

Brazil has excellent schools and universities, the economy is strong and growing. Our GDP is largest than some nations of G7 and will grow up more and more.

Brazil is a modern nation. Supermarkets has everything and the prices are not expensive. Cars are commons, everybody has cell phone and electronic goods. You can find anything at shopping centers. You can choose a good academy to stay fit and you have good doctors with excellent equipment in Brazil. So, there's no motif to leave Brazil for living in USA. I think the life of your family will be better in Brazil. It's my opinion.

You know how Brazil is, because you are living here, but, maybe you have no a complete knowledge about the entire country. So, I invite you to watch some of my favorite videos. You have a resident visa, I can suppose, so, you can choose the best place to live in Brazil based on these videos. Look:

I am a british citizen and need advice about a visa?

im a british citizen with an american boyfriend

ive overstayed my 3 months visa

and found out that im pregnant

    what can i do?

i want to live and work and have my baby in the usa?

where do i start?I am a british citizen and need advice about a visa?
you CANNOT live and work in the US, you do not have a visa and cannot quickly get one that will allow you to work.

Did you have a VISA or did you come on the Visa Waiver program? If you have a visa you may be able to apply for an adjustment of status but it's usually VITAL to do it before you are out of status (as you are now). Still that is your only avenue at the moment unless you get married. Even if you get married at this point they may want you to go home and apply for a green card and waiver of ban due to overstay.

If you are not very much over, say only a few weeks, I'd take a chance and contact CIS to ask what you can do, saying your overstay was due to your pregnancy.

Your BF is the father, so the child will be a US and UK citizen no matter where born.I am a british citizen and need advice about a visa?
Many visitors particularly ladies who travel to USA on a Visitors (B-2) Visa, and the overstay is due to pregnancy, can apply extension of Visa.

Immigration Officer can grant to a Visitor possessing B-2 visa is six months. The USA Immigration laws however has a provision whereby it is possible for the holder of a Visitor鈥檚 Visa to apply for an extension of time granted to him for stay in USA. The maximum time, which can be granted, upon such Extension Applications, is in aggregate one year. Currently, the Immigration Authorities take long time to process and answer such Extension Applications.

Further Section 212(a)(9)(B)(i) imposes two types of bars for people who overstay without a valid permission. If the overstay is for a period of 180 days or more the person who overstays is then precluded from re-entering USA for a period of 3 years from the date he leaves USA. If a person has overstayed without valid permission for more than a year then after he leaves USA he cannot re-enter USA on any category of visa for a period of 10 years

And advice for a UK citizen seeking a visa to move to the US?

I have been to all the websites, I have downloaded all the forms, I've done me reserach... I think I know the process well enough...

My wife is an US citizen and has been living with me here in the UK for 5 years now... We now want to move back to the US.

Has anybody been through this process and if so, any advice or tips?

Also, once in the US on my Visa, how long does the green card application take (I will have an immediate visa number so I can apply straight away)?

Thanks! And advice for a UK citizen seeking a visa to move to the US?
Since your wife has been a resident in the UK for the past five years, what you really need to do is check with the embassy in London and see if she can't file an IR-1 immigrant visa petition there directly. Most US embassies will allow resident Americans to do this, and I believe London will as well, if she is indeed a legal resident there.

If she can, you will significantly jump start the entire process and speed things up tremendously. Among other things, there would be no need whatsoever to file a K-3 petition. That can't be filed in the UK anyway, but it's intended to allow spouses of US citizens to enter in a temporary nonimmigrant status while they're waiting for USCIS stateside to process the immigrant visa petition. These used to take a lot longer to process, but in many cases that's no longer true. Plus, you're far better off in terms of actually getting the green card in your hands, as going the K-3 route requires USCIS to schedule an adjustment hearing for you and given their backlogs, that slows things down considerably.

If you can have the IR-1 petition filed directly there, the adjudication time for the petition is far faster, and you can skip the normal processing route that goes from USCIS to the National Visa Center to the embassy as the petition would start and end at the embassy. You would be eligible for the green card immediately upon entry and would likely get it in several months, not 1 or 2 years. Assuming you and your wife have been married for the past 5 years, or at least over 2 years, you would be eligible for a permanent green card and not the 2 year conditional green card. So, contact the embassy and check it out as soon as possible. And advice for a UK citizen seeking a visa to move to the US?
The green card application will take a couple of years or so. If your wife is a US citizen, this process will not be difficult. Just make sure you read the forms carefully.
You could expect the K-3 application to take up to a year. If you have been married for more than two years already you will get a full green card, not a conditional one.

You say you've looked at all the websites. Does that include the London Embassy's website? When the time comes get your inoculations sorted out and apply for your Police Report promptly. Not too early, mind you. If it is older than six months they will ask you for another one which just delays you.

Good luck with this. The forms are a royal pain in the posterior but, trust me, it is worth the effort.
Pretty much straight away get a provisional green card, after 2 years if still married get a permanent green card.
After filing the papers my work permit came through in 3 months and my green card after 18 months. I'm British and was married to a US citizen for 10 years before we moved to the US. However, we started the process when we arrived in the US and as stated in the answer above, it is a slower process. We had to attend a couple of interviews at the Immigration offices in LA before I was finally granted permanent residence

Any advice for an American citizen looking to work in Barcelona, Spain this upcoming summer 2008?

I am planning to go to Barcelona, Spain to work this upcoming summer. I was wondering if anybody has had any experience find a job there as a foreigner, specifically an American citizen. I would like to stay longer than the summer if possible, possibly up to a year, but I';ll take what I can get. Thanks for your help!Any advice for an American citizen looking to work in Barcelona, Spain this upcoming summer 2008?
I am an American who has been living and working legally in Spain since 1992. As another person said, it is extremely difficult, but not impossible, to work legally in the country. The fact of the matter is that most potential employers do not want to waste their time legalizing anyone who is just going to be around for a little while. But with perseverance you may find someone who is interested in taking you on as an intern...or working illegally in the service industry.

Another option is to come to study ';something'; and you can them work in the related field for obtaining job experience.Any advice for an American citizen looking to work in Barcelona, Spain this upcoming summer 2008?
    long hours little euro
What kind of work are you looking for? If it is the temporary, summer work type, it will be difficult to get legally.
I understand that the visa situation is this: if you are NOT a member of the EU, you can麓t get one. Can麓t get a visa, can麓t work legally, not on your own.

That said, you may be able to get something through CIEE, or some similar exchange program. Try searching Work Exchange Programs. link to Spain.
    ah! my people.

good choice my friend. no experience, seeing as im in 8th grade, but this is obvious--learn spanish. try teaching english to kids.

ppl who lived in America for ever or Immigrants that made the American dream.I Just Become a US Citizen, What Advice Would You Give Me?
Stand tall and proud, for you have become a citizen of the most wonderful country on Earth. Sometimes we get it wrong but we eventually get it right. As others have said, blend in to the ways of the American people.

You must have been here for several years to have gained citizenship, so you must have a job or be in school. Education is the way to success. Save your money and own your own business.

You haven't listed your age, so unless you are beyond 70 years old you have time to gain the American dream.

Good luckI Just Become a US Citizen, What Advice Would You Give Me?
It seems you already have a good knowledge of our language. People always discriminate against people who speak other languages, so try to learn English the best you can. It's very important to communicate to others so you can live the best American Dream!

About how long does it take to get a green card after marrying a citizen? any advice?

Me and my husband have been together for about 7 years we got marrie 2 years ago and had a son he is now 2. We just sent in his application before the july deadline and i was wondering if anyone knew about how long the process takes and if they are still deporting them or do they have some type of pardon. This whole process just sounds so scarry. ANY advice would be helpful!About how long does it take to get a green card after marrying a citizen? any advice?
Me and my wife have been going through the process for about 5 yrs now. We just got our interview in Juarez. It is a long and tedious wait. It also does make a huge difference on how he actually entered the country. My best advice is to be patient and start sending letters out to your congressmen because there is lots of hate filled people out there who have nothing better to do than tear family's apart and they have made it there full time job to stop any sort of compromise to the current situation.About how long does it take to get a green card after marrying a citizen? any advice?
If he applied for a greencard based on marriage he should be approved within two years after you were married but he was be getting a conditional green card then two years later he can apply for a permanent green card but would have to get it renewed every ten years. My husband and I have been married almost three years and we applied for his green card about year ago and we still have not been interviewed for it but we have gotten a notice that it's being processed. Immigration is a long process and his lawyer told us that the USCIS office is so behind on cases and that it could be another six months to a year before we get interviewed.
oh someone married a illegal alien?

It's Possible to adjust his status if he came here legally aka just overstay his visa!!!

if he came here without a visa. he need go back to his country of origin and wait for you to re-apply to bring him here.
Getting married does not guarantee you a green card. If he is caught out and about...he can be deported even with his application in the system.

I want to move to New Zealand and become a citizen. Any advice on what the best city to move to would be?

I was thinking Auckland, but I am not much of a city person.

Wellington seemed a bit cold and windy to me and Dunedin is definitely too cold.

Also any info on life in New Zealand is welcome.

Thanx!I want to move to New Zealand and become a citizen. Any advice on what the best city to move to would be?
    Hi Jen, I'm from NZ.

How about the outskirts of Auckland and then you can get the best of both worlds. (and not as cold as down south) My brother lives in Laingholm near Titirangi in the Waitakere area which is on the outskirts of Auckland in the hills. There are several other beautiful areas like that on the outskirts, but still a driveable distance. And Auckland and surrounding areas have so many beaches and coast areas!

Other pretty cities in the North island are the Coromandel area, as well as Gisborne, Napier etc

Whangarei is a smaller city up north of Auckland and Devonport is across the bay on the ferry from Auckland.

    There are so many!

Yes, Auckland itself is a busy and cosmopolitan city. There is a growing Asian population there right now.

NZ has the indigenous Maori people.

We have been known to be friendly and outdoorsy.

    All the best

From a kiwiI want to move to New Zealand and become a citizen. Any advice on what the best city to move to would be?
The IT guy in my office is from New Zealand. He said Queenstown in the South Island is the place to be.

Yes Wellington is known as the windy city, but its a great place, a mini melbourne atmosphere. I lived in Auckland and didn't like it. Wellington is smaller and friendly. Good luck wherever you choose

Citizen advice bureau, I have an interview soon, Can someone tell me what to expect in concern of the ?

Literacy and Numeracy and Letter writing test I will have to take. Really want to practice, to be competent in the task they prescribe me on the day.

ThanksCitizen advice bureau, I have an interview soon, Can someone tell me what to expect in concern of the ?
I imagine it'd be things like making sure your grammar and punctuation is correct, and basic numeracy. I did a LearnDirect test on that in one of my previous jobs and found it very easy. It was multiple choice. I know we used to work quite closely with CAB, not sure if they would still use them now though.
