I am an Irish citizen living outside Europe, but want to give birth in the UK, can anyone advice me?

I am currently living in the middleeast, but am an irish citizen. I am due my second baby in August. I do not want to spend the summer in the middleeast and was thinking of giving birth in the UK. Can anyone advice me as to what the system is to register, where to register and how much it will cost? Your advice would be greatly appreciated!I am an Irish citizen living outside Europe, but want to give birth in the UK, can anyone advice me?
Hi, If you are a citizen of an EU Country (Like Ireland) then you are entitled to live and work anywhere within the EU.

You will also need an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) which can be applied for from here...... http://www.ehic.ie/apply.htm

I'd imagine you'll need an Eire address for the card to be sent too though.

Once you have this card, you will be entitled to the same state health care as the EU Countries residents are entitled to.

Hope that helps

Try Expat sites like:

http://www.easyexpat.com/

http://www.expats.org.uk/links/

I found a really great one that has all the info you need (but for Spain! http://www.spainexpat.com/ )

Also, get in contact with the Authorities (Immigration? Childcare?), they might be able to give you some pointers!

Good luck!
What part of the UK?

England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?

The UK is not a Country, but a Union of all 4 Countries.
Fly to UK in July, crash hosptial whilst in labour, fly home plus sprog.
Come to Britain within 9 months.
